Hózhó Academy is seeking a caring, dedicated, and enthusiastic PreK Teacher who is passionate about helping young children learn and grow. The ideal candidate will create a safe, welcoming, and engaging classroom where children can build important skills and prepare for kindergarten.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead fun, age-appropriate learning activities.
• Support children's social, emotional, language, literacy, and math development.
• Maintain a safe, positive, and organized classroom.
• Establish classroom routines and encourage positive behavior.
• Monitor children's progress and maintain required records.
• Communicate and build positive relationships with families.
• Work collaboratively with the PreK assistant and school staff.
• Attend required meetings and professional development.
• Follow school policies and NM PreK requirements.

Qualifications

• A degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred.
• Applicants without a degree must be actively pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education.
• Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
• A passion for working with young children.
• Ability to provide a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment.

Preferred:

Experience working with preschool-aged children and familiarity with New Mexico Early Learning Standards.

Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to help students with disabilities in grades pre-k-12 participate fully in their education. Responsibilities include: Conducting screenings and comprehensive evaluations to determine eligibility for special education services, (this includes assessing fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing, visual-perceptual skills, and activities of daily living (ADLs); Collaborating with the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team to develop student-specific goals and objectives; Providing one-on-one or small-group therapy sessions to work on skills like handwriting, self-care (e.g., feeding, dressing), and self-regulation; Recommending and implementing adaptations to the classroom, such as specialized seating, assistive technology, or modified tools (e.g., pencil grips), to remove barriers to learning; Educating teachers, staff, and parents on strategies to support student progress and ensures therapy goals are integrated into the student's daily school routine; Maintaining accurate records of student progress, writes evaluation reports, and completes required paperwork for Medicaid or other regulatory bodies.

Typical Qualifications

• Education: A degree from an accredited occupational therapy program (Master’s or Doctorate is standard).
• Licensure: Current NM state license to practice as an Occupational Therapist.
• Skills: Knowledge of federal and state special education laws (e.g., IDEA) and experience in pediatric or     educational settings.
